Hull-based charity community centre, Vulcan Boxing Gym, has expanded its offering by adding a Versaclimber to its arsenal, giving underprivileged youths access to the very best fitness facilities.
As part of the Vulcan Learning Centre, the Vulcan Boxing Gym, run and directed by Sebastian Glazer, supports children from disadvantaged backgrounds and young people by encouraging them to get into fitness and socialise with other like-minded individuals in a safe and welcoming space.
As a local authority youth-work provider, Sebastian’s team helps tackle homelessness, substance misuse and mental health, while promoting the benefits of learning, fitness and self-respect.
Its gym facilities, used by over 100 people each day, act as a lifeline for many and have been the source of inspiration for a number of young, aspiring local boxers. As a way of enhancing its offering, Sebastian reached out to us at Versaclimber UK, purchasing a Refurbished model for its studio.
With itsestablished boxing pedigree, with the likes of national boxing champion, Tal Singh, professional athlete, Dillian Whyte and Olympic boxer, Anthony Ogogo, all using the machine, Vulcan Gym’s users are in good company.
Sebastian Glazer, director at Vulcan Boxing Gym, said:
“We’re delighted to add such fantastic pieces of equipment like the Versaclimber to our mix of training equipment, all of which we’re proud to say are free-to-use for our service-users – many of whom are aspiring athletes. For me, to be able to give those individuals – who may not ordinarily get to use the very best equipment – the opportunity to train on one of the most effective fitness tools on the market is really rewarding.
“The addition of the Versaclimber marks a very exciting period for us, not only have we just celebrated our 10 year annivesary, we’re also in the process of looking for funding to build an extension to our gym to enable more people to benefit from our services. The added attraction of a Versaclimber has already resulted in more interest from new Vulcan Gym users, motivating them to get into the best condition possible and inspiring others to follow suit.
“We’ve had some brilliant feedback from those who have already used the machine since it was installed, and they’ve raved about its full-body, yet low-impact workout potential, which is perfect for our budding professional athletes.
Managing director of Versaclimber UK, Neil Kelford, added:
“We’re delighted to see that our Refurbished Versaclimber machine is being put to use in such a rewarding and inspiring environment, helping to develop underprivileged, aspiring local athletes who have the desire to get into fitness and competitive sport.
“Our machine has changed the lives of so many, from all walks of life, and been the springboard that has encouraged many gym-goers to take the leap into full-time sports and fitness development. It’s a real pleasure to see that our machine has been pushing these motivated young people further to reach their goals.”
